Mimi’s
Beauty is a brand developed by a woman who understands the struggles of being a
modern woman, the lack of time for self-care, seeing the dreaded fine lines
appear way too soon or the frustration of waking up with a face crease before
an important meeting.
We are not
just a business, we are you! We understand and we care, our products are there
to support you to care better for your skin & hair with minimal efforts and
time, so that you can spend it with your loved ones.
We pay
attention to details, such as creating a special edge piping of the pillowcases
to ensure it maintains shape after many washes & are more durable for your
benefits.
Quality is
one of our main values so we ensure our silk is has the ultimate combination of
shine, thickness, softness and durability. We use the highest grade (6A) long
fiber mulberry silk, with a thickness of 22 momme and enforce the strictest quality
guidelines, including non-toxic dyes.
Silk is the
smoothest fabric available & it is protein based, rather than plant or
synthetic based. Traditional fabrics don’t have such a smooth surface, which
means there is more friction when moving around on your pillowcase, causing
fine lines, face creases & skin irritation. It has been proven that other fabrics
absorb more moisture compared to silk, and thus they rob your skin & hair
of the vital moisture needed to have healthy, young skin & shiny hair.

Historically,
silk used to be only hand washed, however with new technologies our silk
pillowcases are of the highest quality can be machine washed adhering to some
conditions. Silk is a delicate fabric that can be very durable and long lasting
if properly cared for.
Even though
you can machine wash Mimi’s silk pillowcases, whenever possible we do recommend
to hand wash to extend its longevity.
Silk is a
natural fibre and washing in a solution that’s too acidic or alkaline can cause
the silk to harden after a single wash. Always use liquid detergent only, and
better yet pH neutral liquid detergent designed for delicate fabrics, also a
fabric softener after wash. Adding little vinegar to rinsing stage will help
maintain the shine of the silk.
Another
important factor is water temperature. Even just slightly above 30 degrees
Centigrade or 85 degrees Fahrenheit can change silk dramatically. The safest
method if your machine doesn't specify exact heat settings is either cold or
just one level above cold.
To avoid
any accidental tears during machine wash we recommend to use a bag for delicates.
The gentler you wash your Mimi's Beauty pillowcase, the longer it will keep its
sheen. The shinier it is, the better it will slide, which is one of the
benefits to its health and beauty qualities.
Drying.
When drying your pillowcase, do not use tumble dryer, do not expose to direct
sunlight, dry flat in a shade.
Absolutely.
All our silk is certified by international OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, which means
our dyes are safe for you & your loved ones.
We work
with one of the largest and longest running silk suppliers in the world, who
takes pride in the quality product they produce. We do love quality & it’s
so worth the price.
The biggest difference between the two is that silk is
a protein based natural fiber and satin is a weave and comes from synthetic
fibers. Satin is
thinner, rougher and it ‘sweats’, essentially negating the benefits for your skin & hair. Silk fibers
are durable & stand the test of time, silk pillowcase will never get the
“fluffy spools” & look old after few uses.
Satin may look and feel god, however due to its
synthetic nature it doesn’t have the same benefits that silk does, for example
being naturally hypoallergenic or dust mites repellent (those cause acne &
breakouts).
Silk is much harder to produce, as a single thread
requires silk from thousands of silk worms. This makes silk more exquisite
& hence more expensive than satin which comes from synthetic petroleum based
fibers.
